in our media lesson today we have learnt about using different type of shots to create different feelings e.g. anger

in our group we achieved how to make suspense in our shots and which camera
shots help to make the set better and the filming better

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

in the music videos it has realistic chase scenes
use of slow motion around the person
how the props moved in slow motion e.g. the last shadow puppet in the car feather fall off her clothing
kasabain - Vlad the impaler
The last shadow puppets - my mistakes
vampire weekend-cape cod kwassa kwassa
Arctic monkeys - fluorescent adolescent

they all had something scary to them

it could be used in movies because it has montages in the music videos and also they have overlap of scenes
it has 360 camera movement
goes straight into next scene
they have good story lines which can be used for a movie

my 3 film choices are

james bond casino royal
spiderman
pirates of the Caribbean

Spiderman

The hero needs to be physically strong to be able to fight and travel long distances

This is important because Spiderman has to save people and needs to carry them to far away places

For instance in Spiderman the girl is hanging from a taxi and she is falling and Spiderman tries to save her by shooting a big spider web underneath her

I chose Spiderman because he is not the type of person you would expect to be a super hero because he was a geek in the first film and also because he is strong and handsome

That he is strong and that he is willing to use his power for good

Spiderman compared with villains

Similar:

Both can sometimes have powers
Both want to be noticed
Both hate each other
Both can be known as vigilante by public
Both can have fans
Both have names which relates to there character like the joker and Spiderman

Differences:

Spider man is good and a villain is bad
The villain wants to kill and Spiderman wants to save
Spiderman has powers but some villains don’t
Spiderman doesn’t use weapons but some villains do
Spiderman is in love and the villain always tries to kill the love
Spiderman is a normal human being with powers and the villain is sometime mental
Spiderman has 2 identity but the villain only has one

Media language
Storyline and plot
Structure
Oppositional character
Journey/quest
Action sequences

Audience
Representations

Inception
James bond casino royal

In most action adventure movies it is about a hero, a villain and a damsel in distress which links into my chosen film.

Inception

Audience: 12-50yrs

Inception is about a man called cobb (the hero) trying to find use inception to find a way out and buy doing this he must perform one last job-using inception

This film is a non-linier structure the beginning of the film is part of the ending and the structure is more all around the place but still makes sense

This film is different to most sci-fi thriller adventure films because cobb is seen as the hero but at times could be seen as the bad guy because he is trying to find a piece of very important information which he is not aloud t have and if taken could get him killed

The journey/quest

The journey doing this film is cobb trying to use his inception to do a last job so that he can be free from the murder that the police think he has done.
During the beginning/middle parts of the movie a man offers to help him get home but needs him to steal a highly important piece of information, the story progress and as the audience member consumes you in as if you are apart of the dream

Action sequence

One of the well-known action sequences in inception is the part where they are sitting in a café in a DREAM and things start to burst
In this sequence the special effects use are very big because every part of the the dream e.g. the boxes the glass all start to burst which uses large amounts of special effects

Oppositional characters:

In inception many of the villains are mans defence in his dreams be
But also cobb and his crew because they are doing inception illegally
But the hero and villain Is both cobb but also have additional enemies

H/W due monday

http://www.whysoserious.com/ and the poster

both th poster and the website are ways to advertise and promote the movie
the website has like a data base of the jokers document and it looks like his desk because his plan to go to the bank and steal the money, theres also objects like a scalpal knife which he uses to cut peoples faces.

the poster:
the poster has playing cards all around the face of the batman which shows its the joker but also that its all a game in the jokers mind

also the batmans face is made from cards and has black circle on his eye and has a smile which is made of blood which makes him look like the joker which also links into one of the writing on his face which says
"to them your a FREAK like me"

"Its simple kill the batman" the typography is as if it has been craved onto it and the KILL bit links into the
blood around the poster

all the writing is all the qoutes he uses in the film and one of the quotes he uses a lot is why so serious which also links into the website

the batman logo is written in HA ha which also links into the joker because a clown and clown try to make a joke of everything

the scalpull links in to bloody smile but also we know that scalpulls are used for surgery and it makes you think why does he always have it with him

this poster doesnt have any dates but the only thing that give you an idea of the film is the face of the batman and the joker cards and the fact we can see the warner brothers at the bottom show its a film

It's a bold, stunning feature of impossible technical virtuosity. It also has the tendency to be about as emotionally stimulating as a college lecture.

A brain-twister to be sure. But the fact that the plot demands attention only adds to the exhilaration. This is a story about dreams that requires the audience to stay awake.

sorry about the size of the video i will try to fix as soosn as THXS

target audience for this advert:
the target audience for this advert is men around 25 above to 40 i would guess because james franco is in his 30's which makes him suitable to play this role

denotation:
hes a man
hes wearing a suit
hes the main and only character

conotation:
-suit could suggest wealth and shows his status
-when he says your coming with me it could mean a situation has happened and that hes gonna run and he want you to come
-this advert is aimed at men but you could say it is also for women because of the words and actions he uses you could say that the perfume attracts women
-the storyline is based on james franco

describtion:
the advert uses different type of shots such as close up, mls, ls,and so on
the advert is made at night
james franco says parts of the lyrics before the actual song sings it
in the ad he says "when the world is changing... i will be the same" which this is talking about the perfume hes saying when we progress with the world the perfume will stiil be the best and will be orginal and the same

Sunday, 13 February 2011

this advert was made to scare smokers and to show the facts about smoking to them thi advert is not only aimed at smoker its also aimed at older teens to show them that smoking isnt cool but it could end up killing you. this advert got given bad feedback because it was too shocking and frighting but i personaly think it pretty good because that scared feeling is telling you not to smoke or you will end up like the man in the picture

denotatons:
-a man who has a hook pulling his lip
-fish hook
-the man looks ill
-has a fact underneath the man
-looks like hes had enough
-you can see it was made by the NHS

conotations:
-it say get unhooked which can link in to be being addicted to cigarettes
-man looking ill can link in to him being an smoker whos had enough (the eyes give a kind of clue to it)
-the fact is there to make the reader think & beware of the consiquences of being a smoker
-the hook is symbolising the addiction so its pulling him to take another one

what does the picture represent:
the picture represents smokers who are addicted to cigarettas and how they can quit by calling or visiting the website
